Free Concert supports Vernon Food Bank

On Thursday August 19th Blackberry Wood was back in town, playing a free concert in Downtown Vernon. And, when people come down to be entertained and enjoy the gypsy/rag time/circus sounds of Blackberry Wood; they had the opportunity to help their community as well. “The Downtown Vernon BIA invited the Vernon Salvation Army Food Bank to attend the concert on the 19th and encouraged all concert attendee’s to bring a non-perishable food item to donate and help those in need. When someone brought an item for the food bank, they would be given a raffle ticket and entered in to a draw, which would be drawn at the end of the evening. (winner had to be present). It’s a fantastic way to spend a Thursday evening, either dancing the night away or just sitting and enjoying the music, all while having the opportunity to support a great cause.

The Downtown Vernon Association is planning more of these concerts in 2011 continuing on with donations to the Vernon Salvation Army Food Bank.
