Role of BIAs in Municipal Elections

BIAs work closely with municipal councils in a non-partisan manner. So, what is a BIA's role during the election process, ensuring a good working relationship no matter who wins? The session will start with a short presentation on best practices and then move to an interactive discussion with participants sharing ideas from across the province.

What will be discussed:

• Staying non-partisan - how to engage with your issues without endorsing candidates or parties
• Reaching candidates - organizing all-candidate forums
• Informing your members - sharing election information and key dates
• After the ballot - building relationships with a newly elected council
